BYD has launched its latest addition to the Seal family, the 2026 Seal 06 DM-i mid-size sedan. Offered in two configurations priced at 96,800 yuan (around $13,600) and 106,800 yuan ($15,000), this sleek sedan builds upon the success of its predecessor, the Seal 06 DM-i released last year.
Sharing a platform with the Qin L, the new Seal 06 adopts BYD’s modern “Ocean Series” design language. Its bold exterior features a closed front grille accentuated by a prominent lower intake and distinctive through-type taillights connected by water-drop shaped central units. The darkened rear bumper adds to the car’s sporty aesthetic.
Inside, the vehicle embraces the “Ocean Family” theme with flowing lines on door panels and seats, creating an airy and spacious feel. Key highlights include a full LCD instrument cluster and a generous 15.6-inch central control screen dominating the dashboard. A circular gear shift area houses a compact toggle-style shifter surrounded by functional buttons.
Measuring 4830mm long, 1875mm wide, and 1495mm tall with a 2790mm wheelbase, the Seal 06 DM-i offers ample room for passengers while maintaining an agile stance on the road.
At its core lies BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. This system seamlessly combines a 1.5L engine generating 74 kilowatts of power and 126 Nm of torque with a robust electric motor capable of delivering 218 horsepower. This potent pairing grants the Seal 06 DM-i an impressive pure electric range of 128 kilometers, marking a significant improvement over the previous generation’s 80 km and 120 km options.
This enhanced electric range positions BYD to compete more effectively in the rapidly growing plug-in hybrid market. As consumers prioritize fuel efficiency and environmental consciousness, this extended electric range is likely to be a key selling point for the Seal 06 DM-i.
