Chinese automaker BYD’s premium brand, Denza, will bring its all-electric Z supercar to the UK market with a high-profile debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The announcement was made by BYD executive vice-president Stella Li, who hinted at a dynamic launch event featuring a professional race car driver.
Positioning and Model Range
The Denza Z will serve as a flagship model for the brand, exceeding even the high-performance Z9 GT shooting brake, the luxurious D9 MPV, and the rugged B5 SUV in terms of both price and capabilities. This move signifies Denza’s ambition to compete directly with established supercar manufacturers.
Performance and Technology
While specific power figures remain undisclosed, the Denza Z is confirmed to utilize BYD’s advanced e3 platform, allowing for a potential three-motor configuration. The car will also feature BYD’s ultra-fast “flash charging” system, capable of adding approximately 250 miles of range in just five minutes via a 1,000kW (one megawatt) charger. BYD plans to deploy 300 such chargers across the UK by the end of 2026.
The Denza Z will showcase advanced driving modes, including drift capabilities, autonomous driving features, and even a tank turn – a maneuver popularized by the Yangwang U9, another Chinese electric supercar.
Design and Aesthetics
The production version of the Denza Z will closely resemble the concept unveiled at Auto Shanghai earlier this year. Spy shots from Nürburgring testing reveal a striking design with a large rear wing, front splitter, and rear diffuser, reminiscent of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The interior will feature a roll cage behind the two seats, further emphasizing its performance-focused nature.
