Ford Ranger Discounts: Up to $3,000 Off Before New Models Arrive

Ford Australia is currently offering significant discounts – up to $3,000 – on select Ranger models as the company prepares to launch its updated 2026.5 lineup. This move allows customers to save on current-generation vehicles before the new models hit showrooms.

Which Rangers Qualify for the Savings?

The $3,000 discount applies to various Ranger 4×4 variants, including both diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. However, some models are excluded: the Ranger Super Duty, the high-performance Raptor, entry-level XL trims, and all 4×2 Rangers. This means savings are concentrated on the more popular, higher-spec 4×4 versions.

For example, the Ranger XLS dual-cab with a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine is advertised at $57,880 before on-road costs, with $3,000 off the price. Similar discounts apply to XLT models with both 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter V6 engines, as well as the Ranger Sport in either configuration. All four PHEV grades – XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, and Stormtrak – are also included in the offer.

Plug-In Hybrid Savings

The PHEV version of the Ranger, launched last year, is now more accessible with the discount. The starting price for the PHEV XLT drops to $68,990 before on-road costs. This hybrid variant combines a 2.3-liter petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering 207kW of power and 697Nm of torque, along with up to 49km of electric range.

The high-end Stormtrak PHEV is available from $83,990 before on-road costs after the discount.

The Bigger Picture: Engine Changes and Market Dominance

Ford has not announced an end date for these discounts, but potential buyers should act quickly. The automaker recently increased prices on diesel variants in mid-2025 and has made minor adjustments for the MY26.5 update.

More significantly, Ford will phase out the bi-turbo diesel engine in the Ranger, following a similar move in the UK due to stricter emissions regulations. The entry-level XL will switch to a single-turbo diesel, while the V6 option will become more widely available. This also applies to the Everest SUV, which shares many components with the Ranger.

The Ranger’s continued success in the Australian market is notable: it has outsold the Toyota HiLux for three consecutive years, proving its popularity among ute buyers. The company has also made strategic decisions about engine options in response to changing regulations and consumer preferences.

Ultimately, the current discounts provide a limited-time opportunity to save on Ford Rangers before upcoming changes take effect. The company is clearly positioning itself for future compliance and market trends while still capitalizing on the demand for its best-selling vehicle.
