The Bugatti FKP Hommage is a one-of-a-kind hypercar that merges the design language of the iconic Veyron with the raw power of the modern Chiron. This vehicle, commissioned under Bugatti’s exclusive Solitaire program, honors Ferdinand Karl Piëch, the executive who spearheaded the original Veyron project.
A Veyron in Spirit, a Chiron at Heart
Despite appearing as a reimagining of the 2005–2015 Veyron, the FKP Hommage is built on the most advanced iteration of Bugatti’s W16 platform: essentially, a heavily restyled Chiron. This means the classic Veyron silhouette houses significantly upgraded performance.
Subtle Evolution, Extreme Power
Bugatti describes the exterior as a “subtle yet significant evolution.” The front grille is more pronounced, flowing seamlessly into the bodywork. The rear features signature afterburner-style taillights, but with a wider, more aggressive stance. The bespoke two-tone paint job is a technical marvel: red sections use a silver base with a tinted clear coat, while black areas showcase exposed carbon fiber infused with a 10% black pigment for depth.
The FKP Hommage’s engine is a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 borrowed from the Chiron Super Sport, delivering a staggering 1,176kW (1,600 metric horsepower) and 1,600Nm of torque. This represents a substantial leap over the original Veyron’s 736kW (1,001 metric horsepower) and 1,250Nm. Larger air intakes accommodate this increased output, while 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Michelin tires ensure optimal grip.
A Cabin Crafted for Connoisseurs
The interior departs from typical retrimmed bespoke commissions. The steering wheel is inspired by the original Veyron, while the dashboard features a new center console and tunnel machined from solid aluminum. The seats and door cards are covered in fabric woven in Paris.
Perhaps the most striking detail is the 41mm Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon clock, which rotates on a diagonal axis several times per hour, powered by a unique self-winding mechanism.
A $17 Million Investment
The Bugatti FKP Hommage is priced at over €10 million (approximately $17 million AUD). The vehicle debuted at the Retromobile Paris exhibition on January 29, before being delivered to its owner’s collection.
The FKP Hommage is not simply a car; it’s a rolling testament to engineering ambition and luxury craftsmanship. The fusion of historical homage and cutting-edge performance makes it a truly unique piece in the world of high-end automotive collecting.
