Renntech, a high-performance automotive engineering firm, is building a limited run of just 12 reengineered Mercedes-Benz SEC coupes. These cars will receive a massive upgrade in the form of a 7.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, borrowed from the same lineage as the Pagani Zonda and Mercedes CLK GTR.

The Heart of the Beast

The M120 V12 produces 660 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, paired with a custom-built manual transaxle. The engine’s all-aluminum construction and equal-length headers maximize performance, while carbon-ceramic brakes and forged two-piece wheels ensure stopping power matches the enhanced speed.

A Widebody Transformation

Beyond the engine, each SEC will undergo a complete frame-up restoration and receive a bespoke widebody kit. This improves aerodynamics, cooling efficiency, and stability at high speeds – crucial for a car now packing such extreme power. Renntech states that the kit enhances the SEC’s already iconic lines, making it stand out even further.

A Legacy Reimagined

Mercedes-Benz produced the SEC from 1979 to 1991, offering it with a range of engines from inline-fours to V8s. The automaker never offered a factory V12 option, making Renntech’s project a unique twist on the classic coupe. The W140 S-Class was the first Mercedes to receive an engine exceeding eight cylinders.

Delivery Timeline

The first Renntech SEC V12 Widebody cars are scheduled to be delivered in December 2027, meaning potential buyers still have time to prepare for a truly exceptional arrival. These cars aren’t just restomods; they’re a statement.
