Renault Scenic: Why it actually works for families

27

Finding a proper family car is annoying.
It usually involves trading sanity for space.
You end up in something that drives like a lorry. Or worse, you pick something sleek but realize your gear won’t fit.

The Renault Scenic E-Tech tries to cheat that system.

It wants to be clever. It wants to be quiet on a long haul but not so boring that you fall asleep behind the wheel. Most importantly, it tries not to destroy your budget.

What Car? gave it five stars.
They called it the Best Electric Family SUV of 2024.

That’s a nice headline. The stats back it up too.
87kWh battery. Up to 381 miles on a charge [1]. It undercuts the rivals while stuffing the car with stuff that matters to people who haul kids and groceries.

Here is why it wins. Right now.

#1 Space that doesn’t punish you

The first question every parent asks is the same.

Does it fit everything?

The Scenic says yes. And it means it.

The boot holds 545 litres with every seat upright.
That’s enough for seven carry-ons under the shelf. Plus a soft bag on top if you’re packing well.
Fold the back seats (it’s a 40/20/20 split) and you hit 1,670 litres.
Small van territory. Useful when you are schlepping holiday gear or trying to move a wardrobe home in one trip.

You can even tuck charging cables away under the floor.

The interior thinks ahead too.
Over 38 litres of storage hidden around the cabin. The center console goes deep. Door bins eat large water bottles without complaining.

In the back, there is a fold-out armrest. USB-C ports are there for everyone. Little arms swing out to hold tablets steady during those long drives.

Lawrence Cheung from What Car? fit into the back seat easily despite being 5ft 11″. He noted the seat bases were longer, which means better support for tall adults in the rear.

Is it magic?
No. It just makes sense.
