That is changing. A pragmatic plan is in motion. It aims to restore the Turin-born brand to its former glory. This isn’t just about survival; it is about tapping into the raw passion of the Alfisti. The dedicated fan base keeps the engine running. The overhaul realizes the full power of an 115-year-old brand.
The New C-Segment SUV
The first piece of this puzzle is clear. A C-segment SUV will bridge the gap. It sits directly between the refreshed Tonale and the larger Stelvio. Stellantis announced this during their May Investor Day. Now, we have a teaser image. It gives a glimpse of the future.
The car remains unnamed for now. But the bones are familiar. It will ride on the Stellantis STLA-M platform. This architecture supports the Peugeot 3008. It also underpins the Vauxhall Grandland. That means flexible powertrain options. Expect hybrid systems. Plug-in hybrids (PHEV). And full battery-electric vehicles (BEV).
Technical details on the architecture are sparse. Major updates might be applied later. However, the base setup should handle BEV requirements comfortably. One or two motors are possible. Battery sizes could scale up to 98 kWh. That is serious range potential.
Dimensions and Design Language
Sharing a platform with other Stellantis cars does not mean sharing its soul. We expect this Alfa to be longer and wider than average. A length of around 4.7 meters sounds right. That provides breathing room above the 4.5-meter Tonale. It also keeps it distinct from the Stelvio. A next-gen Stelvio with larger dimensions is coming soon anyway.
The design shift is notable. Look at the Junior. It is blocky. Aggressive. Inspired by the 1980s. Design boss Alejandro Mesonero-Roman pushed that theme hard. The new SUV takes a different route. It abandons the split-lines. It drops the contrasting colors.
Instead, it offers a sculpted, tailored look. Strong C-pillars anchor the rear. The teaser image highlights narrow rear lights embedded in a body-colored tailgate. This is sharp. It is refined. It contrasts heavily with the Junior’s eccentric lighting. It also lacks the dramatic triangular LED strip rumored for the delayed Stelvio.
Release Timeline
Patience is required. The SUV won’t hit showrooms until late 2027. That is a long wait for fans. However, a more revealing concept might appear at the Paris Motor Show in October. We will get more clarity then. For now, the gap remains. But it won’t stay empty for long.
